4-H for All!
Recite with us now the 4-H Pledge: “I pledge my HEAD to clearer thinking. – INDEPENDENCE! I pledge my HEART to greater loyalty – BELONGING! I pledge my HANDS to larger service – GENEROSITY! I pledge my HEALTH to better living –MASTERY! – for my club, my community, my country, and my world.”
Through the 4-H program, youth across the country are able to make friends for life, since the club is like one big family – with approximately 200 members in Broome County alone. 4-H, as a family should, concerns itself with seeing that members learn leadership, citizenship and life skills through a “learning by doing” model.
During Broome County Fair week, 4-H youth welcome kids and adults to come see what their projects are all about, whether it is science experiments or animals. Don’t forget to stop by the animal arena and pavilions to see which animals will walk, trot, hop and waddle home with blue ribbons around their necks. The exhibitions begin Tuesday, July 26 at 7:00p.m. with the dog show and end Saturday, July 30th at 10:00a.m. with the poultry show.
The generous giving of volunteers helps the program remain strong and acts as a stepping-stone to success for many youth. In activities spanning from working with computers, movie making, woodworking, to animal care, gardening, and rocket construction, youth of all ages are invited to join the Broome County 4-Hers and experience the fun of learning through doing.
